Job summary

Elix Sourcing Solutions in Birmingham, West Midlands, is seeking a Project Engineer (Mechanical / Machining) to manage engineering projects from enquiry to delivery in an office-based role.

You will coordinate quotes and costs, lead resources and people, and gradually visit customers while developing toward a senior project position; a full UK driving licence is required.

Project Engineer - Mechanical / Machining

Does managing engineering projects from first enquiry through to delivery sound appealing?

If you have a mechanical engineering background, ideally with machinist or CNC experience, and want to move into an office based project role, then here's a great opportunity.

The company are a well-established engineering services business with their own machine shop and fitting shop. They repair pumps and motors, and carry out site installations and removals for customers in steel manufacturing, water utilities, power generation and metal manufacturing.

The role involves running projects like your own small business. You will take each job from the first enquiry, through quoting and costing, to managing it through the workshops and delivering it to the customer. This is an office based role rather than a hands-on one, so you will be managing resources and people. To begin with you will be in the office Monday to Friday, and as your confidence grows you will start visiting customers, aiming for around 25% of your time. A full UK driving licence is needed for this. You will get plenty of support and mentoring while you learn the business, and the role is a clear route into a senior project position.
