Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear, a core part of Babcock International Group, is recruiting a Senior Project Engineer (Commissioning) for the Hinkley Point C site near Bridgwater, Somerset. You will drive commissioning from planning through delivery, working across multidisciplinary teams to meet safety and quality objectives.

This role requires nuclear sector quality leadership, experience on large-scale projects, and the ability to mentor professionals and coordinate suppliers.

Qualifications

• Quality leadership in nuclear or regulated industry.
• Experience with large-scale manufacturing and construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager to deliver commissioning on safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives.
• Define work scope, coordinate interfaces and ensure project execution across multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare, maintain and review project documentation, plans, contractor submissions and technical drawings.
• Monitor project progress, manage risks and issues, and provide reports to stakeholders.
• Facilitate project meetings and ensure contractual, regulatory, environmental and quality requirements.

Job description

This is your opportunity to contribute to the delivery of a flagship nuclear new-build programme that will play a critical role in the United Kingdom's energy future. Working as part of the Hinkley Point C Commissioning Alliance, you'll help drive complex commissioning work from planning through to delivery, gaining invaluable experience on one of the largest engineering and infrastructure projects in Europe. Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

• Supporting the Project Manager to deliver commissioning activities in line with safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives
• Defining work scope, coordinating interfaces and ensuring effective project execution across multidisciplinary teams
• Preparing, maintaining and reviewing project documentation, plans, contractor submissions and technical drawings
• Monitoring project progress, managing risks and issues, and providing accurate reports to key stakeholders
• Facilitating project meetings and ensuring contractual, regulatory, environmental and quality requirements are achieved

This is a full-time, permanent role based at Hinkley Point C, Somerset. The role is primarily site-based, with flexibility to work across project offices when required. Travel to other Babcock and customer sites will be expected.

Essential experience of the Senior Project Engineer (Commissioning):

• Quality leadership experience within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience supporting large-scale manufacturing and construction projects.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing quality professionals.
• Experience managing supplier quality activities and working directly with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems and quality governance principles., Higher National Certificate, Higher National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or a related discipline., The successful candidate must be a sole UK national and able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
