The Role of the Project Electrician
A well-established independent building contractor is seeking an experienced Project Electrician to join its team, working across commercial and residential projects throughout London.
The successful candidate will work within high-profile, occupied buildings and will be responsible for installing, maintaining and fault-finding on a range of electrical systems. The role requires a technically capable, client-facing electrician who takes pride in delivering high standards of workmanship.
The electrician will work closely with Contracts Managers, Operations Managers, clients, colleagues and suppliers, with a strong focus on safety, customer service and quality.
Key Responsibilities of the Project Electrician
- Install electrical systems in accordance with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and BS7671.
- Install and maintain lighting, small power, wiring and containment systems.
- Undertake electrical fault-finding on existing systems.
- Carry out site surveys independently or alongside clients to establish requirements.
- Provide accurate information and professional assessments to Contracts Managers and clients.
- Work with lighting control systems, including DALI and Exor.
- Maintain a strong understanding of IEE regulations and NICEIC requirements.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and to a high professional standard.
- Develop positive relationships with existing clients and provide excellent customer service.
- Identify issues or opportunities that can be highlighted to clients.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
- Plan and prioritise workloads while maintaining attention to detail.
- Demonstrate flexibility, initiative and a proactive, can-do approach.
Project Electrician Requirements
- Proven experience in electrical installations.
- BS7671 / 18th Edition qualification.
- C&G 2391 Testing & Inspection qualification is desirable.
- CSCS Card.
- Knowledge of NICEIC requirements.
- Strong awareness of health and safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- The ability to work independently and within a small team.
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills.
