Job description

Due to increased workload, we are looking for a permanent Works Project Design Manager who will join a dynamic, innovative, focused and engaged team, tackling our increase in Design & Build workload from a variety of key clients, including the Environment Agency, National Highways, Local Authorities and private clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Full responsibility for proactively managing a design phase team, which may include Consultants and/or specialist designers.
  2. Being the Jackson lead at meetings with clients, including presenting, and discussing design ideas and solutions.
  3. Preparation of design documents, briefs, reports, and management plans.
  4. Development and management of design programmes.
  5. Reviewing design documents for compliance with scheme requirements, utilising gained knowledge and experience to advise on buildability and value engineering opportunities.

Skills Required
  1. A civil engineering academic and site background which allows you to understand design principles and envisage how schemes are built.
  2. Programming software skills and an awareness of applicable CDM Regs requirements.
  3. Extensive experience in at least one of - highways, structures, infrastructure or flood alleviation works.
  4. An understanding of the need to work to accepted design processes, procedures, guidance, codes and standards and a general understanding of common construction specifications.
  5. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
