Job summary

Whitworths is seeking a Project Design Engineer to support the delivery of engineering and infrastructure projects across our site in Irthlingborough.

You’ll design mechanical and electrical layouts for plant and equipment, manage projects from concept through commissioning, and coordinate contractors, suppliers, and installation activities while upholding Health & Safety standards and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience designing mechanical and electrical systems within manufacturing environments.
• Proven experience delivering capital projects from concept to completion.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety within FMCG/manufacturing.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and electrical layouts for plant and equipment.
• Support production line, infrastructure, and electrical system upgrades.
• Manage projects from concept through to commissioning.
• Develop timelines, budgets, and investment proposals.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and installation activities.
• Maintain high Health & Safety standards across projects.
• Provide project updates and maintain accurate documentation.
• Contribute ideas to improve reliability and performance.
