Ser- is seeking an experienced Project Commissioning Engineer for national fire and security projects, based in the Midlands. You will lead commissioning from installation through handover, configuring CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and fire systems across high-profile sites.
The role offers £40,000-£50,000 plus travel and overnight allowances, with opportunities to develop into senior project positions. A UK driving licence and willingness to travel are essential.
Are you an experienced Fire & Security Engineer looking to take the next step in your career?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, growing business delivering high-profile fire and security projects for some of the UK’s biggest and most recognisable brands.
With a strong national presence and an impressive client portfolio, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of commercial projects across the UK.
We’re looking for a Project Commissioning Engineer who is confident with 2nd fix, commissioning, programming and fault-finding and wants to build a long-term career within a business that is willing to invest in the right person.
This isn't your typical service engineering role.
You’ll be working on national projects from installation through to final commissioning and handover, giving you exposure to a wide range of systems, environments and clients.
You’ll work across sites including:
With projects taking you across the UK, no two weeks are likely to be the same.
There is also genuine opportunity to develop your technical skills and progress your career. Engineers who are looking to move into a more senior project or commissioning position will be considered, with training and support available for the right candidate.
As a Project Commissioning Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the final stages of fire and security projects, ensuring systems are correctly configured, fully operational and ready for client handover.
Key responsibilities will include:
You’ll have the opportunity to work across a broad range of industry-leading systems, including:
Honeywell | Texecom | Gent | Paxton | Hikvision | Kentec | C-TEC | Apollo
You don't necessarily need experience across every system listed — strong commissioning experience and a willingness to learn are key.
This is a national role, so flexibility to travel and work away is essential.
Typically, you can expect to be away 2–3 nights per week, although some weeks may involve little or no overnight travel. With good planning, the aim is to keep overnight stays to a minimum, but flexibility is required depending on project requirements.
You’ll be rewarded properly for working away:
The ideal location would be the Midlands or a central UK location, giving you good access to the national projects.
We’re looking for an engineer who is technically strong, reliable and comfortable taking ownership of projects through to completion.
Ideally, you’ll have:
Already working as an experienced engineer but looking to step up into commissioning? If you have the right technical foundation and attitude, the business is open to considering engineers who are ready to take the next step and will support the right person with training.
This is a business that wants to develop and retain good engineers.
If you’re ambitious and want to progress beyond your current role, there is scope to develop your technical knowledge, take on greater responsibility and progress within the project and commissioning side of the business.
If you're an experienced Fire & Security Engineer who enjoys working on technically interesting projects, wants exposure to major national clients and is ready to take your career to the next level, this could be an excellent move.
You’ll get variety, responsibility, national projects, industry-leading systems and a package that properly rewards you for travelling and working away.
