Job summary

SER Limited is recruiting a Fire Alarm Installation Engineer to install, commission and support fire alarm systems across commercial projects. Based mainly in the Midlands, with occasional travel to projects further north, you will work closely with project managers, engineers and customers to ensure high standards.

The role offers a company van, tools and ongoing training, with a clear path for career development and regular salary reviews.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience installing and commissioning fire alarm systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems and installation practices.
  • Experience with Advanced, Morley, Kentec and Apollo would be advantageous.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and support to other engineers.
  • Good understanding of relevant fire alarm standards and regulations.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to projects further north.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and configure a variety of fire alarm systems.
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and project teams.
  • Act as a key point of contact for installation-related queries and technical issues.
  • Ensure installations are completed to a high standard and in accordance with regulations and standards.
  • Travel occasionally to projects in the North; majority Midlands.
  • Complete commissioning documentation, handover paperwork and project reports.
  • Support delivery of projects from installation through to completion.

Fire Alarm Installation Engineer
Nottingham
£45,000 - £50,000 DOE

  • Company van provided, including personal use
  • Company credit card
  • 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 26 days after 5 years' service
  • Travel time paid after the first 30 minutes
  • Call-out rota available and negotiable – engineers can choose whether they wish to participate
  • Standby allowance: £160 per week when on call

  • Overtime available after 40 hours, paid at time and a half, with double time available at weekends

The Role

As a Fire Alarm Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, and supporting fire alarm systems across a range of commercial projects.

Alongside your hands-on installation responsibilities, you will act as a point of contact for guidance and technical support on projects, working closely with project managers, engineers, and customers to ensure installations are delivered to a high standard.

The majority of projects will be located throughout the Midlands, with occasional travel to the North required depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, and configure a variety of fire alarm systems
  • Work with industry-leading manufacturers including Advanced, Morley, Kentec, and Apollo
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and project teams
  • Act as a key point of contact for installation-related queries and technical issues
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Ensure installations are completed to a high standard and in accordance with relevant regulations and industry standards
  • Fault-find and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning
  • Liaise with customers, project managers, and other engineers throughout projects
  • Complete commissioning documentation, handover paperwork, and project reports accurately
  • Support the successful delivery of projects from installation through to completion
  • Travel occasionally to projects in the North, although the majority of work will be across the Midlands
