Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Project Civil Engineer for its Northampton team. You will contribute to below-ground drainage, SuDS, and highways design across commercial, residential, industrial projects, using AutoCAD.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and 2–3 years of consultancy experience, with a UK driving licence and the ability to manage own workload. The firm offers hybrid/flexible working, 25 days leave, a contributory pension, and mentoring toward ICE/IStructE

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 2–3 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering consultancy.
• Experience in below-ground foul and surface water drainage design.
• Proficient in engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of SuDS; familiarity with MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Understanding highways design and its relationship with drainage.
• Strong organisational and communication skills; able to manage workload.
• Full UK driving licence and own transport.

Responsibilities

• Undertake civil engineering design across a range of projects.
• Design below-ground drainage and surface water systems.
• Produce drawings using AutoCAD and develop drainage strategies.
• Contribute to highways and wider infrastructure design.
• Liaise with planning authorities and Local Flood Authorities.
• Organise workload, meet deadlines, and coordinate with the project team.
