Job summary

Howett Thorpe, based in Farnham, Surrey, is seeking a Management Accountant for a permanent, full-time role. The position is office-based with study support and a strong career growth path.

You will join a small finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller, and play a key role across multiple finance tasks. Key duties include month-end close, preparing management accounts, reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar finance position.
• Currently or looking to study AAT/ACCA/CIMA.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience in using Xero would be advantageous.
• Ability to communicate at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process with timely, accurate accounting.
• Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L and balance sheet) and supporting schedules.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, journals and month-end adjustments.
• Analyze financial performance against budget and forecast.
• Produce regular management reports for senior stakeholders.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activity and keep ledgers accurate.
• Support process improvements within the wider finance team.
