Job summary

Serco Group is hiring a Progression Job Coach in Newport to support Restart Scheme participants. You will deliver one‑to‑one coaching, assess needs, create tailored action plans, and help with CVs, applications and interview prep.

You’ll build trusted relationships with participants and employers to match opportunities and track progress. The role focuses on empowering individuals, developing confidence, and enabling long‑term employment while contributing to community outcomes and safeguarding

Qualifications

  • Experience in coaching, mentoring or supporting individuals into employment or education.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust.
  • Experience working in a target‑driven or performance‑focused environment.
  • Excellent organisation and time management abilities.
  • Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Good understanding of the Welsh language.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of participants through the Restart journey to sustained employment.
  • Deliver one‑to‑one coaching, needs assessments and tailored action plans.
  • Provide practical employability support including CV writing, applications and interview prep.
  • Build trust-based relationships and motivate participants to achieve goals.
  • Work with employers and internal teams to identify opportunities and match participants to roles.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with contract requirements.

As a Progression Job Coach in our Employment, Skills and Enterprise team, you'll support people on the Restart Scheme to overcome barriers to employment, build confidence, and move into sustainable work. Your work has purpose, helping individuals achieve positive outcomes while creating a positive impact on communities.

Every day, you'll work closely with participants to understand their goals, identify support needs, and create personalised action plans. Through coaching, guidance, and practical employability support, you'll help people develop the skills, confidence, and motivation needed to secure long‑term employment. Our work touches lives, and you'll play a key role in helping people build a brighter future while strengthening trust and opportunity within local communities.

What you’ll do as a Progression Job Coach
  • Manage a caseload of participants, guiding them through the full Restart journey from engagement through to sustained employment
  • Deliver one‑to‑one coaching, needs assessments and tailored action plans to address barriers to work
  • Provide practical employability support including CV writing, job applications, interview preparation and job search techniques
  • Build strong, trust‑based relationships with participants, motivating and supporting them to achieve their goals
  • Work with employers and internal teams to identify opportunities and match participants to suitable roles
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure full compliance with contract requirements and customer service standards

Vetting and checks:

An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help ensure the right support is in place for you to succeed in the role.
