Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd in York is seeking a Progress Tutor to support post-16 students in a Further Education setting. You will manage a caseload, deliver weekly group tutorial sessions, provide individual support and pastoral guidance, and work with curriculum teams to remove barriers to learning.

The role requires a Level 2 in English and Maths, a degree or Level 5 qualification, and a Level 3 teaching qualification or willingness to achieve within two years.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
  • A degree and/or professional Level 5 qualification.
  • A Level 3 teaching qualification, or willingness to achieve this within two years.
  • Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring or coaching experience, ideally within Further Education.
  • Experience supporting young people with their progression and development.
  • An understanding of student engagement and motivation within a post-16 setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of working pastorally with young people.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with curriculum and support teams.
  • A proactive, flexible and solution-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering weekly Progression and Development tutorial sessions, including employability and life skills.
  • Providing engaging sessions through discussion, debate and digital learning activities.
  • Conducting individual tutorials to monitor student progress, set targets and review achievement.
  • Providing pastoral support and helping students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Monitoring attendance and punctuality and supporting students to improve their engagement.
  • Helping students develop workload management, organisation and deadline-management skills.
  • Working closely with curriculum teams to ensure students receive appropriate support.
  • Liaising with work placement teams to ensure students have the evidence required for their qualifications.
  • Working alongside safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusive learning teams where additional support is required.
  • Supporting students through the UCAS application process.
  • Contributing to student induction and wider student events.
  • Acting as an advocate for students where appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and progress information.
  • Supporting student voice and ensuring students have opportunities to share their views.

Vision for Education are currently recruiting for a \u003Cb\u003EProgress Tutor\u003C/b\u003E to join a welcoming Further Education setting in York.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher, tutor, mentor or pastoral professional who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential. You will work closely with students, curriculum teams and wider support services to help remove barriers to learning, improve engagement and ensure students are progressing successfully.

The Role

As a Progress Tutor, you will manage a caseload of students and provide a combination of \u003Cb\u003Egroup tutorial sessions, individual support and pastoral guidance\u003C/b\u003E.

About You

We are looking for someone who can build positive relationships with a broad range of post-16 students and who understands how effective pastoral support, mentoring and progression guidance can improve engagement and attainment.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A minimum of Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
  • A degree and/or professional Level 5 qualification.
  • A Level 3 teaching qualification, or willingness to achieve this within two years.
  • Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring or coaching experience, ideally within Further Education.
