Job description

Job title Programmes Administrative Assistant

Department Faculty of Engineering & Design

Salary Starting from £24,344, rising to £25,733

As a Programmes Administrative Assistant, you'll utilise your conscientious approach and strong organisational skills to provide administrative support for all taught programmes in the Faculty. Your tasks will include: assessment processes; maintaining student records; responding to enquiries from students, and supporting academic colleagues.

With guidance from our Taught Programmes Manager and Programmes Officer(s), you'll support Programmes Administrator colleagues, working within common systems and processes standardised on best practice, adhering to University regulations and procedures, and ensuring that services are efficient, effective and adapt to changing circumstances.

Your work ethic and enthusiasm are more important to us than experience. This role would suit anyone interested in exploring a career in the HE sector, and could represent a springboard to more senior roles in the future.

About us

We care about staff and student well-being, personal and professional development, delivering excellent service and University reputation. If this approach resonates with you and you are a good team player who also enjoys working independently and taking the initiative, we welcome an application from you.

As a Faculty we accept change and provide a supportive environment in which to grow, offering professional development opportunities with a strong belief in the value of investing in our people and teams. We are currently operating a hybrid work model which is a combination of both campus and home working (minimum 3 days a week on campus to include Wednesdays). During the peak workload periods the post holder will be required to work on campus every day (Monday – Friday).

If you have any questions about the role or the team please contact Emma Greeley, Programmes manager (absesjg@bath.ac.uk ), or Josh Ryall, Programmes Officer (jar97@bath.ac.uk).

This post is offered on a full-time, (36.5 hours), open-ended basis.

  • You are a conscientious and considerate team player
  • You can communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders in written and spoken English
  • You can organise yourself and others
  • You can use your initiative
  • You are able to multi-task and prioritise within a busy workload

We consider ourselves to be a university where difference is celebrated, respected and encouraged. We have an excellent international reputation with staff from over 60 different nations and have made a positive commitment towards gender equality and intersectionality receiving a Silver Athena SWAN award. We truly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds will lead to a better environment for our employees and students and encourage applications from all genders, backgrounds, and communities, particularly from under-represented groups, and value the positive impact that will have on the university. We are committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, staff, and community by reinforcing our Safer Recruitment commitment.

We're continually expanding our benefits package to better support you and enhance your experience with us and the below is just an example of some of the many great benefits we offer:

  • Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
  • Staff discount at Team Bath gym
  • Staff discounts on postgraduate tuition fees
  • Staff discount on language courses
  • Generous employer contributory pension schemes
  • Generous annual leave allowance with an additional 5 discretionary days so that you can enjoy a positive work life balance
  • A wide range of personal and professional development opportunities including Apprenticeships, LinkedIn Learning and more
  • Free entry to the Holburne Museum in Bath
  • An excellent reward package that recognises the talents of our diverse workforce
