Job summary

The University of Sheffield IT Services is recruiting a Programme Manager to lead the Operating Model Programme and related initiatives. You will work with the Head of Portfolio and senior stakeholders to ensure delivery stays on track and dependencies are managed effectively.

This permanent role requires strong governance, planning and communication skills, with experience in agile or product-led delivery. The role offers hybrid working and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Significant experience of managing complex programmes or projects within a large, matrixed organisation.
• Knowledge of programme governance, reporting and assurance practices.
• Ability to map dependencies, risks and issues across multiple workstreams.
• Experience of stakeholder engagement and effective communication at senior levels.
• Experience in agile, product-led or outcomes-based delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day delivery of the Operating Model Programme and related portfolios.
• Map, track and manage dependencies across workstreams and resolve conflicts.
• Support governance processes, board reporting and decision-making.
• Monitor progress, milestones, actions and deliverables; escalate slippage early.
• Identify risks/issues, drive mitigations and keep plans realistic and resourced.
• Coordinate communications, engagement activity and budget/resource monitoring.
• Maintain core programme artefacts (plan, RAID log, dependency map, benefits tracker).
• Prepare concise status reports for senior audiences and governance boards.
