Job summary

Responsibilities

What are we looking for?

The Programme Delivery Manager leads the planning, delivery and integration of complex, strategically important programmes and initiatives across the organisation. The role is accountable for delivering contract and business outcomes through effective programme leadership, ensuring activities are coordinated, risks are managed, stakeholders remain aligned, and benefits are realised.

Operating in a fast‑paced and evolving environment, the postholder leads multiple interdependent workstreams from concept and business case development through implementation, transition and operational handover. Success requires balancing delivery pace with governance, commercial awareness, stakeholder management and continuous improvement.

The role acts as the bridge between strategy and execution, translating organisational objectives into structured programmes and delivering measurable outcomes through cross‑functional teams.

Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK

What You’ll Be Doing (but Not Limited To)
  • Lead complex programmes and strategic initiatives from initiation through delivery and transition into business operations. Including early lifecycle system integration, flight testing and capability demonstration.
  • Develop and maintain programme baselines including scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, resources and budget.
  • Coordinate multiple cross‑functional teams to deliver agreed objectives and business outcomes.
  • Engage with customers and end‑users during prototype maturation, trials, and demonstrations, building confidence in emerging capabilities.
  • Ensure prototypes meet safety, regulatory, and experimental airworthiness requirements appropriate to the phase of the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure programme activities are delivered in accordance with organisational standards, policies and lifecycle processes.
  • Drive effective risk and opportunity management, ensuring appropriate mitigations are identified and implemented.
  • Facilitate decision‑making through the provision of accurate, timely and insightful programme information.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, building confidence and maintaining alignment across the programme lifecycle.
  • Lead programme reviews, stage gates and readiness assessments.
  • Ensure effective change control and configuration management where appropriate.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and best‑practice programme management.
  • Support business planning, investment cases, bids and growth initiatives through programme management expertise.
  • Ensure delivery teams remain focused on achieving strategic objectives while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Essential Skills And Experiences
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Project Management (tools, techniques, practices).

University Level Education Or Professional Qualifications Gained Through Industry.

  • Professional PM Qualification (APM or PMI as examples) or years of practical experience gained through application of Project Management.
  • Exceptional coordination, pace, decision and sense‑making
  • Ability to bring structure and control to high-tempo lifecycles cycles.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills
Desired Skills And Experiences
  • Strong experience in aerospace prototyping, flight‑test environments, or early‑stage vehicle development.
  • Familiarity with electric/hybrid propulsion, UAS systems, and multidisciplinary integration.
