Job summary

London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) is seeking a visionary Course Director for Creative Foundation (Level 3) to lead Graphic Design, Fashion Design and Games Art & Design pathways. You will drive academic leadership, oversee curriculum quality and coordinate the Foundation provision across the college.

Qualifications

  • Relevant undergraduate degree and postgraduate qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience of teaching and assessment within Higher Education.
  • Experience of leading and managing academic teams, curriculum development, quality assurance and student outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching, learning and assessment practices.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and develop both students and colleagues.
  • Experience of curriculum design and delivery within a creative discipline.
  • Strong organisational, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in education.

Shape the Creative Talent of Tomorrow

At London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA), we're passionate about developing the next generation of creative professionals. We are seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking Course Director – Creative Foundation (Level 3) to lead our Foundation provision across Graphic Design, Fashion Design, and Games Art & Design and play a pivotal role in preparing students for success in higher education and the creative industries.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic leader to help shape student journeys from their very first step into creative higher education, ensuring an engaging, inclusive and industry-relevant learning experience.

About the Role

Reporting to the Dean of Foundation School, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for our Creative Foundation programmes, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, assessment, student engagement and progression. You will lead a team of Subject Leads and Lecturers, fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

Working closely with academic and professional services colleagues, you will ensure students receive a supportive and inspiring educational experience that develops their creativity, confidence, academic readiness and discipline-specific skills.

What You'll Be Doing
Academic Leadership
  • Lead and develop the Creative Foundation curriculum across Graphic Design, Fashion Design and Games Art & Design pathways.
  • Drive excellence in teaching, assessment, quality assurance and student outcomes.
  • Lead course teams, examination boards and curriculum review activities.
  • Produce annual course monitoring reports and oversee continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion inclusive, student-centred learning approaches that support diverse learner needs.
Student Success
  • Ensure students experience a smooth and successful transition into undergraduate study.
  • Monitor progression, engagement and attainment, implementing interventions where required.
  • Provide academic guidance and pastoral support to students.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence, creativity and achievement.
People Leadership
  • Manage, coach and develop Subject Leads and Lecturers.
  • Foster a collaborative culture across academic teams and disciplines.
  • Support staff development, appraisal and performance enhancement.
Industry Engagement & Innovation
  • Maintain strong links with the creative industries and professional bodies.
  • Embed current industry practice, employability and external perspectives into the curriculum.
  • Contribute to scholarly activity, professional practice and pedagogic innovation.
  • Support cross-college initiatives that enhance learning and teaching excellence.
About You

Essential Requirements
  • Relevant undergraduate degree and postgraduate qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience of teaching and assessment within Higher Education.

Desirable
  • Teaching qualification (PGCert or equivalent).
  • Fellowship of Advance HE (or higher).
  • Doctoral qualification or equivalent research experience.
  • Experience of research, knowledge exchange or professional practice within the creative industries.
  • Established industry networks and external partnerships.
