The University of Southampton’s Department of Economics invites applications for a Professorship position. This follows the successful hiring of two Lecturers, one Associate Professor, and two Professors in Autumn 2024, as part of a major expansion to enhance our research, education, and knowledge exchange.

Our department is renowned for impactful research in migration, networks, education, crime, and inequality, utilizing macroeconomic, experimental, and econometric methods. In 2021, our research environment and impact initiatives received top ratings, with 93% of outputs deemed internationally excellent or above. We have secured prestigious grants from ESRC, Horizon 2020, and Norface, and contribute to large-scale initiatives like the ESRC Centre for Population Change.

The University of Southampton, ranked among the top 100 globally and top 15 in the UK for research, is focusing on themes such as AI and Data Science, Sustainability, Decarbonisation, and Health. We prioritize applications from scholars with expertise in applied economics, microeconometrics, financial econometrics, and data science.
