Job summary

Connect Recruitment is seeking a Professional Financial Accounting Specialist in Berkshire to manage comprehensive financial accounting duties, including month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis. You will collaborate with multiple departments to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance while supporting audits and internal controls.

The role requires a recognised accounting qualification or progress towards one, with a solid grasp of UK standards and good Excel

Qualifications

  • Recognised professional accounting qualification or working towards one (for example, AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and financial regulations.
  • A-level qualifications or equivalent qualifications in relevant subjects.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years experience in a financial accounting role within the accounting, banking or financial services sectors.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and performing reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with month-end and year-end closing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors during audits
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing financial data and variance analysis
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, company policies, and accounting principles
  • Process and verify invoices, payments, and expense reports in a timely manner
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls
  • Prepare financial reports and summaries for management and other stakeholders as required
  • Maintain accurate and organised financial documentation and records
  • Respond promptly to financial queries from internal and external parties

The Professional Financial Accounting Specialist undertakes comprehensive financial accounting duties within an established accounting function. The role requires maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The post holder works closely with various departments to support month-end and year-end closing processes and provides detailed financial analysis to assist management decision-making.
