Job summary

Howett Thorpe is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join its growing finance team in Guildford. The role offers a fully office-based, permanent opportunity reporting to the Financial Controller, with exposure across multi‑currency consolidation and international reporting.

You will bring at least 5 years’ post‑qualification experience, be ICAEW/ACCA/CA qualified, and lead monthly management accounts, statutory filings and group consolidation while mentoring junior staff in a fast-evolving

Qualifications

• Strong technical accounting with international reporting exposure.
• Experience with multi-currency group consolidation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and support month-end close.
• Build balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support year-end audit with schedules and liaise with auditors.
• Assist with statutory accounts and tax filings.
• Support group consolidation in a multi-currency environment.
• Mentor Accounts Assistants and drive process improvements.

Senior Financial Accountant - The Role

The business is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to join its growing finance team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. You will bring a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualified experience and enjoy a broad, hands-on role covering both financial and management accounting across multiple jurisdictions.

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts, supporting the month-end close process and delivering accurate, timely reporting
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting the year-end audit process, including audit schedule preparation and liaising with external auditors
• Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and tax filings
• Supporting group consolidation activities within a multi-currency environment
• Mentoring and supporting a small finance team of Accounts Assistants
• Taking a proactive approach to process improvement initiatives and supporting wider finance projects

The successful Senior Financial Accountant will be:

• Fully qualified accountant (ICAEW / ACCA / CA) with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience
• Strong technical accounting expertise
• Proven experience working within an international reporting environment
• Highly adaptable, proactive and curious, with the ability to thrive in a fast-evolving organisation
