Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd is seeking a Professional Construction Lecturer to deliver engaging theory and practical teaching within the North West FE sector. You will plan and prepare lessons, assess learner progress and tailor your approach to learners at different levels.

This role welcomes industry professionals transitioning into teaching and supports ongoing professional development. You will mentor learners, develop classroom practice, and help learners progress into the construction industry

Qualifications

• Substantial industry experience in professional construction, such as civil engineering, design, surveying or planning.
• A relevant qualification in the subject area
• Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and maths

About the Role

As a Professional Construction Lecturer, you'll deliver engaging theory and practical teaching that helps learners build the knowledge and professional skills they need to progress into the construction industry.

Working with a further education provider in the North West, you'll plan and prepare lessons, assess learner progress and adapt your approach to suit learners at different levels and stages of their training.

If you come from industry rather than a teaching background, that's welcome here. You'll be supported to develop your classroom practice through mentoring and ongoing professional development.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering theory and practical lessons across professional construction programmes.
• Creating teaching resources and assessing learner progress.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Substantial industry experience in professional construction, such as civil engineering, design, surveying or planning
• A relevant qualification in the subject area
• Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and maths

Desirable (but not essential):

• A teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one
• Previous teaching, training or mentoring experience
