Job description

Are you a highly organised and detail-oriented individual looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, innovative environment? Our Laboratory Management Team at Tropic is looking for a Production Technician to help keep our lab running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

This hands-on role is essential for our daily operations. You'll be involved in a variety of tasks, including:

  • Managing glassware: Washing, organising, and storing lab glassware.
  • Sterilising supplies: Preparing items for sterilisation and using autoclaves.
  • Keeping the labs stocked: Monitoring and refilling replacing lab supplies like reagents and consumables.
  • Waste management: Safely handling and disposing of lab waste.
  • Cleaning: Maintaining lab spaces, tools and equipment.
  • Making media: Preparing liquid and solid growth media for experiments.
  • Quality control: Checking the quality of prepared media and other lab products.
  • Instrument checks: Helping with routine calibration of lab instruments.

Qualifications

  • Full training will be provided and there are no essential qualifications required.
  • Laboratory experience isn't essential for this role; we value a positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn above all else.
  • Science-related qualifications (e.g., A-levels, BTEC, HNC/HND, or a degree) or previous experience laboratory experience (media preparation, managing glassware) will be a bonus; however, it is not essential.
