Job summary

IPS in Saint Helens, England, is seeking a full-time Shift Controller to manage production lines and labour to meet planned volume and commercial targets, while following QA and safety standards.

Rotational shifts are 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am. You will model best practice, support Line Leaders and drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing area. The role requires strong leadership, proactive problem solving and effective liaison with customers as needed.

Responsibilities

• To effectively motivate a team of people to meet production targets
• Ensure the final product meets client specifications (SPI)
• To effectively maximise production efficiency to ensure plan is met on an hourly/daily basis
• Effectively use the integrated management systems
• To adhere to and promote best practice in accordance with company health, safety and quality regulations
• To ensure all paperwork and systems are completed and accurate in accordance with company procedures
• To ensure that all areas comply with hygienic audits, both internal and external
• To ensure GMP (good manufacturing practices) and housekeeping (clean as you go) are strictly adhered to
• Assist in the development of a skills matrix for all production workers
• To attend Line leader meetings, and relevant training courses, as and when required
• To assist in the identification and development of Line Leaders to promote success planning
• To assist in the training and development of new starters
• To act as a role model for best practice
• Monitor, control and minimise waste
• Play an active part in continuous improvement
• To conduct RTW’s for line workers
• To participate in the company’s PDP program
• To conduct disciplinary investigations in accordance with company procedure
• To act as specialist for machinery knowledge
• Drive own personal development through training and work based experience
• Manage the output of assigned production and effectively deal with issues as and when they arise
• Cover for the Area Manager in his/her absence
• Liaise with customers and clients as and when required
• Must be prepared to cover a variety of shifts to represent the management team
• To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time, that reasonably fall within the scope and grade of the post
