Role overview:

  • Ensure machines operate at full capacity without issues, and address breakdowns by quickly identifying and fixing problems. This role involves shift work.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate HDPE blow moulding equipment and auxiliary machinery, including packing tables, leak detectors, metal detectors, conveyor systems, and granulators.
  • Maintain smooth production line operation by troubleshooting and correcting issues to meet volume and quality targets.
  • Perform calculations to ensure precise weights and measures according to customer specifications.
  • Adjust machines to correct errors in bottle production.
  • Accurately report problems and complete relevant documentation.
  • Ensure machines operate efficiently to optimize material use and minimize waste.
  • Conduct visual and physical quality assessments to verify product compliance with specifications.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to sustain machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Execute standard machine changeovers, including material feed, gas, neck, and profile adjustments.
  • Apply effective problem-solving techniques and make necessary process adjustments.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, mentoring packers when needed.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in accordance with Food Packaging Industry Standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols consistently.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, quality, and health and safety.

Education & Experience:

  • Background in engineering, fitting, or mechanical fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 5 GCSEs including Maths and English, grades C/5 or above.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience in a plastics manufacturing environment or similar fast-paced production setting.
  • Mechanical maintenance skills such as belt changes, pneumatic control adjustments, changeovers, tool changes, and machine setup.
