Job Summary

NATURE OF WORK

IFF is seeking a Packaging Technician in our New Century, Kansas facility. As a Packaging Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, troubleshooting, minor adjustments and general maintenance of all automated, semi-automated and manually operated packaging equipment. You will be exposed to cold and dry conditions in the winter, as well as hot conditions in the summer. The environment also consists of excessive dust and powders. As a Packaging Technician, you will be required to keep the production area clean and possibly clean vessels where half-face or full-face respirators may be required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:
• Safe and effective operation and minor adjustments of all packaging equipment.
• Proper handling, packaging, labeling, coding and marking of product.
• Accurate and timely sampling of materials and communication to lab.
• Accurate and timely documentation of your production day.
• Safe, healthy and clean work environment.
• Report all accidents or near misses to Lead/Supervisor.
• Willing to support other production lines and assist Spray Operators.
• Regular on time attendance.
• Proper and timely communication of equipment performance to Operators/Leads.
• Effective evaluation of the quality of all packaging raw materials consumed in the operation. Report any defects you encounter to Lead/Supervisor.
• All product change overs are completed in an efficient and timely manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work independently and with a group in accordance with the company safety & sanitation standards.
• Basic computer skills: Access, Outlook and SharePoint.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
• Ability to work on your feet the majority of the day.
• Moderate to heavy stair climbing (including vertical ladders)

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates in a production/plant environment 95% of the time. This position requires lifting up to 55 lbs. (25 kg). Incumbent must be willing to work in hot and/or cold environments. Incumbent must also be willing to work in a dusty environment and be willing/able to wear half or full-face respirators.
