Role Overview
  • The role involves ensuring machines operate at full capacity, addressing breakdowns by quickly identifying and fixing issues. The position requires shift work.
Responsibilities
  • Operate HDPE blow moulding and ancillary equipment, including packing tables, leak detectors, metal detectors, conveyor systems, and granulators.
  • Maintain smooth production line operation by troubleshooting and correcting issues to meet volume and quality targets.
  • Perform calculations to ensure weights and measures align with customer specifications.
  • Adjust machines to correct errors during bottle production.
  • Report problems accurately and complete relevant documentation.
  • Ensure machines operate efficiently to optimize material use and minimize waste.
  • Conduct visual and physical quality assessments to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to maintain efficiency and quality.
  • Manage standard machine changes, including material feeds, color, gas, neck, and profile adjustments.
  • Apply problem-solving techniques and make process adjustments as needed.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, mentoring packers.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in compliance with Food Packaging Industry Standards.
  • Follow all safety practices diligently.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, quality, and health and safety.
Education & Experience
  • Background in engineering, fitting, or mechanical fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 5 GCSEs including Maths and English, grades C/5 or above.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing or similar fast-paced production environments.
  • Mechanical maintenance skills such as belt changes, pneumatic controls, changeovers, tool changes, and machine setup.
