Role overview:

  • Ensure machines operate at full capacity, address breakdowns by identifying and rectifying issues promptly. This role involves shift work.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate HDPE Blow moulding equipment and auxiliary systems including packing tables, leak detectors, metal detectors, conveyor systems, and granulators.
  • Maintain smooth production line operation by troubleshooting and correcting issues to meet volume and quality targets.
  • Perform calculations to ensure weights and measures align with customer specifications.
  • Adjust machines to correct errors in bottle production.
  • Report problems accurately and complete necessary documentation.
  • Ensure machines run efficiently to optimize material use and minimize waste.
  • Conduct visual and physical quality assessments to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to maintain machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Execute standard machine changes such as material feeds, color, gas, neck, and profile adjustments.
  • Apply problem-solving techniques and make process adjustments as needed.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, mentoring packers.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping as per Food Packaging Industry Standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols consistently.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focusing on production efficiency, quality, and safety.

Education & Experience:

  • Background in engineering, fitting, or mechanical fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience.
  • At least 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade C/5 or above).

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience in plastics manufacturing or similar fast-paced production environments.
  • Mechanical maintenance skills such as belt changes, pneumatic controls, changeovers, tool changes, and machine setup.
