Job summary

Marshalls plc is seeking a Production Operative in Bridgend, Wales. The role involves setting up, operating and optimising production machinery for decorative architectural masonry products on a 40-hour week with a 3-week shift pattern and overtime options. Full training provided and a permanent contract.

You will monitor quality, record data, perform routine checks and work with Engineering/Maintenance to minimise downtime while supporting Lean initiatives and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating and setting industrial manufacturing machinery.
• Able to carry out machine changeovers, adjustments, and basic fault-finding to minimise downtime.
• Strong understanding of production KPIs, including OEE, productivity, quality, and waste reduction.
• Experience conducting quality inspections and ensuring products meet customer and company specifications.
• Ability to read and follow production documentation, work instructions, and technical specifications.
• Experience using powered hand tools, lifting equipment, and mechanical handling equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, Continuous Improvement, waste elimination, and process optimisation.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products consistently.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and optimise production machinery to help achieve production targets.
• Carry out routine machine checks and minor adjustments, escalating equipment issues and working closely with Engineering and Maintenance teams.
• Monitor product quality, accurately record production, downtime and waste data.
• Lead by example on Health & Safety and support training of new team members.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement projects to improve efficiency, quality and cost performance.
