Job description

Our client, a leading aerospace engineering firm based in Rochester, is looking to recruit Production Operatives in their Fettling Department to assist in the manufacturing, finishing, and testing of their products.

As a Fettling Production Operative, your main duties will include:

1. Using belt sanders and grinders to flatten surfaces and smooth rough edges
2. Using hand tools to remove excess weld materials and imperfections
3. Checking dimensions of castings to ensure they conform to relevant technical specifications
4. Quality checking products
5. Reporting any issues with production machinery to team leaders
6. Ensuring the work area is clean and tidy

The ideal Production Operative will have:

• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Experience using hand tools and good manual dexterity
• A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent timekeeping skills
• Physical fitness, as the role may involve standing for long periods and manual lifting of parts
• Safety boots; all other PPE will be provided
