Production Manager

MARCO, a globally recognised automation and technology company and part of the ATS Group, is seeking a dynamic Production Manager to lead our dedicated production and assembly team based in Edenbridge, Kent.

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will oversee the day-to-day management of the production team and work closely with sales, design procurement and project management teams to ensure the efficient build and always on-time delivery of complex customer orders.

This is a fast-paced mechanical engineering role which relies on successful interaction with all key stakeholders and exceptional planning and organisation skills.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Leading high performing, multi-discipline assembly teams to complete varying, complex solutions that meet customer demand. Planning resource and prioritising activities accordingly.
  • Working collaboratively with other key stakeholders including the sales, design, procurement and projects teams to ensure products are delivered right first time, in full and on time.
  • Working with Project Managers to define organisation and work breakdown required to deliver customer needs and mapping key strategic milestones accordingly.
  • Managing all elements of the employee lifecycle for the Production Team as required, including onboarding, upskilling and regular appraisal, and achieving key performance indicator (KPI) team metrics.
  • Leading on health and safety initiatives, training and audits to drive a ‘safety first’ culture and ensuring a compliant and always safe working environment.
  • Supporting in companywide initiatives and projects as part of short and long-term business objectives.
  • Assisting the Operations Director in defining and delivering the evolving manufacturing strategy, including resource allocation, to ensure projects are delivered in full, on time and on budget.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have extensive experience working in a complex mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment, preferably within automation.
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge and understanding of legislative standards.
  • Have a significant experience of leading successful teams, people management and a problem-solving.
  • Be highly customer focussed, with excellent communication skills and the ability to lead in a fast-moving environment.
  • Be highly organised with the ability to manage multiple workloads and priorities.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on approach with willingness to get involved in all aspects of production operations.
  • Hold a relevant manufacturing or engineering degree (desirable but not essential).
  • Have experience working within an SME environment (desirable but not essential).
