Job summary

Staffline is seeking a Production Line Leader for Alconbury, UK. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent role involves leading a fast-paced shift operation across days or nights, with four-on/four-off patterns and 12.5-hour shifts.

You will drive packing efficiency, maintain safety standards, and coordinate production schedules with a focus on quality and cost control. Night shifts may require flexibility during peak periods, with overtime opportunities after 48 hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum supervisory or team management experience.
• Knowledge of production processes and health & safety protocols.
• Experience in fresh produce, food production, or FMCG environments is preferred.
• Ability to lead by example and maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and motivate the team to hit performance targets and maintain quality.
• Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and customer specifications across processes.
• Deliver an efficient packing operation daily.
• Oversee daily operations, manage production schedules, resolve issues promptly.
• Provide training and ensure adherence to SOPs and policies.
• Support lean initiatives and drive continuous improvement to meet KPIs and budget constraints.
• Contribute to SOP development for the packaging area.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
• Keep accurate records of production data, waste, and returns.

Job description

Great opportunity to work as a Production Line Leader for one of the largest providers of fresh flowers to major supermarket chains throughout the UK.

Staffline is recruiting for Production Line Leaders for the day and night shift in Alconbury.

Please note: Night Shift vacancies are limited, so early application is recommended.

The rate of pay is:

• - Day shift is paid at £14.50 per hour
• - Overtime: £18.13 per hour (paid after 48 hours)
• - Night shift is paid at £18.13 per hour
• - Overtime: £22.66 per hour (paid after 48 hours)

Day Shift: Earn up to £667 per week based on a four-day working week, with overtime opportunities available.

Night Shift: Earn up to £833.98 per week based on a four-day working week, with overtime opportunities available.

This is a full-time role and the shift pattern will be: 4 on 3 off 3 on 4 off - 12.5 hours, Shifts are generally scheduled from Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday.

As part of a busy and fast-paced operation, flexibility is essential during peak periods such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Christmas, when night shifts may be required.

This is a temporary-to-permanent role with long-term opportunities for the right candidates.

As a Production Line Leader your duties will include:

• - Lead, coach, and motivate the team to achieve performance targets and maintain high-quality standards.

• - Deliver an efficient packing operation on a daily basis.
• - Oversee daily operations, manage production schedules, and promptly resolve any issues.
• - Provide training and ensure adherence to operational procedures and company policies.
• - Support manufacturing initiatives and drive continuous improvement, ensuring all KPIs are met and work is within budgetary constraints.
• - Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures for the packaging area.
• - Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
• - Ensure accurate record-keeping of production data, waste, and returns.

Our ideal Line Leader will have:

• - Previous supervisory or team management experience
• - Knowledge of production processes, quality standards, and health & safety protocols
• - Experience in fresh produce, food production, or FMCG environments
• - Strong leadership and decision-making skills
• - Great communication skills

The ideal candidate will be consistent and reliable, with a strong ability to lead by example and maintain a positive, solution-focused approach. Behavioural safety training and experience with the Rubicon ERP system are advantageous, as is experience in lean manufacturing and working with UK retailers in a manufacturing environment.

Additionally, you will need to have a flexible can-do attitude as you may be required to work in other areas or undergo training as necessary.
