Job summary

Staffline is seeking a Production Line Leader in Alconbury to drive daily production, coaching a shift team in a fast-paced fresh produce environment. You will ensure quality, safety, and efficiency across packing operations, while coordinating schedules and improving processes.

The role offers a day shift with potential for overtime and a path to permanent employment. Excellent leadership and a background in FMCG are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising a production team.
  • Knowledge of production processes and safety standards.
  • Experience in fresh produce, food production, or FMCG environments.
  • Strong leadership and decision‑making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and motivate the team to meet performance targets and quality standards.
  • Ensure safety, hygiene, and customer specifications across all processes.
  • Deliver an efficient packing operation on a daily basis.
  • Oversee daily operations, manage production schedules, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide training and ensure adherence to procedures and policies.
  • Support manufacturing initiatives and drive continuous improvement within budget.
  • Contribute to SOP development for the packaging area.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of production data, waste, and returns.

Job description

Production Line Leader – Alconbury

Great opportunity to work as a Production Line Leader for one of the largest providers of fresh flowers to major supermarket chains throughout the UK.

Compensation and Working Hours
  • Day shift: £14.50 per hour
  • Overtime: £18.13 per hour (after 48 hours worked)
  • Shift pattern: 4 days on, 3 days off, 3 days on, 4 days off – rotations typically from Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday
  • Hours of work: 6:30 am to 7:00 pm
  • Flexibility is essential during peak periods such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas; night shifts may be required
  • Role type: temporary‑to‑permanent with long‑term opportunities for successful candidates
Your Time at Work

  • Support manufacturing initiatives and drive continuous improvement, ensuring all KPIs are met and work is within budgetary constraints
  • Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures for the packaging area
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment
  • Ensure accurate record‑keeping of production data, waste, and returns
Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory or team management experience
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality standards, and health & safety protocols
  • Experience in fresh produce, food production, or FMCG environments
  • Strong leadership and decision‑making skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Consistent, reliable, and solution‑focused approach
  • Behavioural safety training and experience with the Rubicon ERP system are advantageous
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and working with UK retailers in a manufacturing environment is beneficial
  • Flexible can‑do attitude, willing to work in other areas or undergo training as required
