Job summary

Morson Edge is recruiting a Mechanical Production Engineer to support an Aerospace/Defence client on the Wiltshire/Dorset border. This contract role initially runs for 6 months with the potential to go permanent.

You will provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing and assembly operations, develop and improve processes, create work instructions, routings and BOMs, and collaborate with Design Engineering to address manufacturability issues.

Qualifications

• Experience in a mechanical manufacturing or production engineering environment.
• Good understanding of mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Experience providing technical support directly to production.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing and assembly operations.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes for aerospace mechanical components and assemblies.
• Create and maintain manufacturing instructions, process sheets, routings and bills of materials.
• Support NPI from design through to production.
• Conduct manufacturing feasibility and producibility assessments.
• Investigate production problems using structured root-cause analysis techniques.
• Implement corrective and preventative actions to eliminate recurring manufacturing issues.
• Work with Design Engineering to resolve drawing, tolerance and manufacturability issues.
• Develop and optimise mechanical assembly processes.
• Implement lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Ensure production processes comply with company procedures and applicable aerospace standards.
• Maintain accurate engineering and manufacturing documentation.
