Job summary

Elevation Recruitment Group is assisting a leading aerospace manufacturer in recruiting a Production Engineer to join the aerospace manufacturing team in West Yorkshire. The role focuses on developing and optimising manufacturing processes, supporting NPI, and driving continuous improvement in a highly regulated environment.

You will liaise with Design Engineering to ensure DF(M)A, provide technical support to production, and lead CAPA activities to improve quality and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience in aerospace or regulated manufacturing.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as stainless steel forming, spot welding, riveting.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with AS9100 or equivalent quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with CAD and manufacturing planning software (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes for aerospace components and assemblies.
  • Provide technical support to production, resolving issues and improving efficiency.
  • Produce and maintain work instructions, routings and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure products are designed for manufacture (DFM/DFA).
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), including tooling, fixtures and process validation.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
  • Analyse production data to improve quality, cycle times and cost efficiency.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Planning and Manufacturing teams.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities of the Production Engineer:

About you:

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience using core quality tools including PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, FAIR and APQP
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience working to AS9100 or equivalent quality management systems
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience with CAD, manufacturing planning software, tooling or process validation (desirable)
