This Applied AI Engineer role is ideal for someone early in their AI engineering career or taking a first specialist step, with solid Python foundations and a desire to grow in governance, evaluation and reliable AI delivery at scale.

Qualifications

• Strong Python programming foundations, with the ability to write clean, well-tested, production-quality code.
• Foundational understanding of applied AI and large language model concepts, such as agents, prompt design, or retrieval-augmented generation.
• Good core software engineering practices, including version control, testing, and working in a sprint-based environment.
• A learning mindset, willing to develop skills in AI evaluation, quality, and responsible AI practices over time.
• An understanding that AI systems impact real customers and must be built with care, transparency, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• You will join a small specialist team building and operating AI systems in a regulated, customer-first environment, contributing high-quality code and learning how enterprise-grade AI is delivered responsibly.
• The role exists to support delivery of production AI systems while developing the next generation of applied AI engineering capability within Aviva.
