Job summary

Aviva plc is seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to lead the end-to-end architecture for multi-agent AI systems. You will define canonical engineering patterns, build reusable toolkits, and establish governance for production AI across customer-facing and operational domains.

The role requires hands-on delivery of large-scale AI, strong Python skills, and expertise in agent orchestration, context engineering, and model fine-tuning.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience delivering LLM-powered systems at scale.
• Expert-level Python for production-quality code in complex multi-agent systems.
• Deep expertise in agent orchestration frameworks and context engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture and delivery of multi-agent AI systems across domains.
• Define and own Aviva’s canonical engineering patterns for applied AI, including orchestration architectures.
• Build and maintain a reusable library of agent tools, MCP servers, skills and shared assets.
• Establish quality, safety and governance standards for production AI systems with evaluation frameworks.
• Lead structured research programmes on emerging models and translate findings into delivery guidance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship through architecture reviews and code reviews.
• Partner with business, product and EA teams to translate AI opportunities into scalable solutions.
• Ensure compliance with FCA Consumer Duty, GDPR and internal AI governance standards.
