Job summary

Aviva seeks a Senior Applied AI Engineer in the UK to lead the architecture and delivery of complex multi-agent AI systems, setting canonical patterns and governance frameworks used across the organisation.

You will build a reusable library of agent tools, drive production-grade AI initiatives, and collaborate with business, product, and Enterprise Architecture teams while ensuring regulatory alignment and safety.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience delivering LLM-powered systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Leading the end-to-end architecture and delivery of multi-agent AI systems across customer-facing and operational domains.
• Defining and owning Aviva’s canonical engineering patterns for applied AI, including orchestration architectures and memory design.
• Building and maintaining a reusable library of agent tools and shared engineering assets.
• Establishing quality, safety and governance standards for production AI systems.
• Leading structured research programmes on emerging models and techniques.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to mid-level and junior engineers.
• Partnering with business, product and Enterprise Architecture teams to translate AI opportunities into scalable solutions.
• Ensuring compliance with FCA Consumer Duty, GDPR and internal AI governance standards.
