Job summary

IMT Resourcing Solutions Ltd is seeking a Production Support Technician to join our client in Tewkesbury on a permanent, full-time basis. The successful candidate will provide hands-on engineering support to CNC machining and production teams, helping introduce new products into manufacture and resolving engineering issues during production.

You will lead and coach machinists, drive process improvements, optimise tooling and programming, and ensure CAD/CAM systems align with manufacturing

Qualifications

• Strong technical engineering background in a precision machining environment.
• Extensive experience with CNC machining capabilities and production processes.
• Experience setting work, tooling selection and editing CNC programmes.
• Knowledge of GD&T and capability to self-inspect critical features.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical engineering support to CNC machining and production teams.
• Support introduction of new and existing products into manufacture.
• Identify and resolve engineering issues before and during production.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching and support to machinists.
• Improve machining processes to increase efficiency and machine utilisation.
• Support CNC programming and programme optimisation.
• Use CAD/CAM systems to support production requirements.
• Review tooling, manufacturing methods and machining processes.
• Carry out gap analysis and ERP system updates.
• Apply structured problem‑solving and continuous‑improvement techniques.
• Support non‑conformance processes and raise NCRs where required.
• Work closely with Production, Operations and Planning to resolve bottlenecks.
• Support familiarisation and technical training where required.

The role:

The Person:

• Strong technical engineering background within a precision machining environment

• Multi‑axis CNC machining experience
• Experience setting work, selecting tooling and editing CNC programmes
• Strong knowledge of tooling and its application
• Experience machining complex precision components
• Experience working with difficult‑to‑machine materials
• Strong understanding of GD&T
• Ability to self‑inspect components and measure critical tolerances/features
• Good understanding of CNC programming codes
• Ability to coach and support machinists
• Strong problem‑solving and continuous‑improvement mindset

Desirable:

• Apprentice trained within a mechanical engineering discipline
• CAD/CAM experience
• hyperMILL programming experience
• SolidWorks modelling/design experience
• New Product Introduction experience
• Experience with configuration management and engineering change processes
• ERP systems experience
• SMED / machining continuous‑improvement experience
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or similar qualification
