Job description

Are you a Technical Engineer, Project Manager or Product Manager with a good understanding of engineered systems and products? Would you enjoy taking ownership of a specialist product range and helping shape its future?

Our client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of sustainable drainage systems, developing innovative solutions that help manage surface water responsibly across commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure projects.

They are now looking for a Product Manager to take ownership of their Storm Water Control (SWC) portfolio, developing and optimising the range to ensure it remains competitive, compliant and aligned with customer needs and wider business growth. This is a varied role that brings together product development, market insight, commercial thinking and project management. You will work closely with R&D, Sales, Marketing and Procurement, using customer feedback, market trends, competitor activity and changing industry standards to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing product development and improvement projects from specification through to delivery.
  • Analysing market trends, customer feedback, competitor activity and industry standards to identify opportunities.
  • Developing clear and accurate technical product specifications for training and product literature.
  • Working collaboratively with R&D, Sales, Marketing and Procurement to deliver product initiatives.
  • Managing projects to agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards.
  • Building strong customer relationships and using their insight to drive product improvements.

As Product Manager you should bring:

  • Technical and sector credibility - Understanding of engineered systems, ideally drainage, water, civil engineering or environmental products.
  • Product-development involvement - Evidence that you have improved, redesigned, tested or introduced products, rather than only used or sold them.
  • Customer and market insight - Experience of gathering customer feedback, identifying market gaps or monitoring competitors.
  • Cross-functional project leadership - Experience coordinating engineering, R&D, production, sales, marketing, quality or regulatory colleagues.
  • Commercial product thinking - Ability to balance customer value, technical performance, compliance, manufacturing feasibility, cost and profitability.

You will be joining a forward-thinking business with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation and continuous improvement. The culture encourages entrepreneurial thinking and gives people the freedom and responsibility to make a real contribution.

The package includes:

  • Negotiable salary plus bonus which can be discussed with the Recruiter before proceeding
  • Hybrid working, with a minimum of 3 days office based
  • 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays, rising to 28 days with length of service
  • 6% employer pension contribution with salary exchange scheme available
  • Life assurance from day one - 2x annual salary
  • Private healthcare and Employee Assistance Service for employees and their households
