Job description

Data Analytics & Wastewater Engineer

LOCATION: Belfast, On site

About StormHarvester

StormHarvester helps wastewater utilities predict and prevent issues like flooding and pollution before they happen, protecting communities and reducing costs. We are the market leader in this space. At its core, StormHarvester's advanced anomaly detection system analyzes data from thousands of sensors, turning it into precise, actionable insights that drive smarter decisions.

About the role

StormHarvester is a fast-growing green-tech software company based in Belfast, using machine learning and predictive analytics to help wastewater utilities detect issues in the sewer networks before environmental harm occurs. By combining real-time sensor data with localised weather forecasts, we are the leading software company enabling utilities to reduce pollution and make smarter, proactive decisions.

We deliver actionable insights across wastewater networks through our cloud-based SaaS platform. As we continue to grow, we’re expanding our team to tackle new challenges with data and machine learning. Increasingly, StormHarvester are tackling problems and projects that require hydraulic modelling experience. The New Product Development teams have hydraulic modelling expertise and are looking to expand this.

This is a pragmatic and delivery-focused role in the use of data, analytics, and hydraulic modelling to deliver bespoke outcomes for StormHarvester customers as part of our New Product Development team. This role is ideal for a Project Engineer, Project Scientist, Urban Drainage Modeller or similar, who is interested in expanding their data analytics skillset within Python while still utilising existing modelling skills. You’ll be part of a fast-moving, collaborative, cross-functional team with room to develop your skills in applying novel data-driven techniques. We will offer time and resources to upskill where needed.

The role will have ownership over projects and work with customers to deliver timely results. This will involve:

  • Gaining an understanding of the StormHarvester product
  • Helping scope and deliver projects to customers using the StormHarvester platform, data analysis and visualisation, and running simulations in Infoworks ICM and SWMM.
  • Working with StormHarvester development team to improve functionality of tooling.

You will have ownership over individual work and projects, while working with product development teams. You’ll have opportunities to advocate for current best practice within the industry to ensure StormHarvester is addressing customer needs. The approaches you design will be used by water utilities to predict and prevent real-time pollution events and inform capital investment decisions, contributing to improving environmental quality.
