Job summary

Referment is partnering with a healthcare technology company to deliver ADHD and autism assessment software used by clinical teams. This hands-on Product Engineer role involves taking ambiguous ideas from early concept to production-ready features, working alongside ML engineers and clinicians.

Referment is working with a healthcare technology company building software that helps clinical teams deliver ADHD and autism assessments more efficiently. Its platform handles sensitive patient information and supports clinicians through complex assessment workflows, so product decisions have a direct effect on both clinical work and the patient experience.

This is a hands-on Product Engineer role for someone who enjoys taking ambiguous problems from an early idea through to a reliable feature in production. You will work closely with machine-learning engineers and clinicians, combining sound product judgement with strong full-stack engineering to solve the edge cases that emerge when software meets real clinical practice.

The Role

• Build and ship complex, AI-enabled full-stack features from initial scoping through production release.
• Design sensible APIs, data models and application flows that remain maintainable as the product develops.
• Work directly with technical colleagues and clinical users to understand requirements, clarify trade-offs and improve the resulting workflow.
• Test features thoroughly and respond thoughtfully to real-world behaviour involving state, data flow and unusual edge cases.
• Move quickly in a startup environment while making deliberate choices about scope, user experience and avoidable technical debt.

What We're Looking For

• At least five years of software engineering experience, including clear ownership of substantial features from design to release.
• Strong full-stack fundamentals and the ability to reason about architecture, APIs, data models, testing and maintainable code.
• Good context-building habits: you can read an existing codebase, ask precise questions and understand how a change fits the wider product.
• Comfort working with incomplete specifications and making sound product and engineering decisions independently.

Desirable Experience

• Python, AWS, React, TypeScript or Auth0.
• Building products on LLM APIs, particularly Amazon Bedrock.
• Healthcare, clinical software or another regulated environment.
• Working with sensitive health or personal data and applying practical data-protection principles.
• Explaining technical choices clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

This could suit a senior full-stack or product-minded software engineer who wants end-to-end ownership, close contact with users and technically demanding work in a regulated setting. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not currently available, and a background check is required before starting.
