Job summary

Medius is seeking a product designer to join a cross-functional squad in Manchester, shaping features from problem framing to shipping. You’ll move beyond execution with ownership, crafting a design voice and contributing to AI-powered design workflows.

You’ll work with a design system, contribute to user research and usability testing, and collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to deliver polished fintech/B2B SaaS experiences.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of product design experience.
• Experience in B2B SaaS or fintech.
• Proficient in Figma and design systems.
• Ability to conduct user research and usability testing.
• Interest in AI-powered design and generative prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Design features end-to-end from problem framing to shipping.
• Collaborate with PMs and engineers within a squad.
• Contribute to the Medius design system and maintain consistency.
• Participate in user research and usability testing and translate insights into design decisions.
• Apply AI tools in daily practice to improve speed and rigor.

• You’ll work as a product designer embedded in a cross-functional team, taking real ownership of feature design from problem framing through to shipping.This is a role where you’ll move beyond execution and start developing your own design voice: forming views on what the right problem is, not just how to solve it
• You’ll have support and context from the wider design team, a design system to work from, and clear product direction to work within. The expectation is that you bring craft and curiosity; the scope to grow will follow
• Design features end-to-end: taking a problem brief, exploring solutions, building prototypes, and working with engineers through to delivery
• Contribute to user research and usability testing, building confidence in running sessions and translating findings into design decisions. –
• Use AI tools as part of your day-to-day practice, including Figma’s AI features and generative prototyping, as standard working method rather than occasional experiment
• Work closely with a product manager and engineers as a full member of a squad, contributing to decisions beyond the design brief
• Contribute to the Medius design system: following and improving patterns, flagging gaps, and helping maintain consistency across the product
• Give and receive design critique in formal crits and async reviews

Solid UX and UI foundations: you understand the research-to-spec journey and have done it, even if not always independentlyA portfolio that shows reasoning, not just finished workProficient in Figma, including components, variants, and auto-layoutA genuine interest in AI, both as subject matter (designing AI-powered features) and as a craft tool (using AI to work faster and think more rigorously)Clear communicator: able to explain design decisions to engineers and product managers and take feedback constructively2+ years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or fintechExperience designing for complex data workflows, approval flows, or financial productsSome exposure to design system contribution or component library workExperience with AI-assisted design or prompt-to-prototype workflows
