Job summary

FC Engineering Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Product Design Engineer for a permanent role near Gatwick. The position focuses on taking products from concept through to manufacture, with hands-on CAD work and prototype support.

You will design plastic components and mechanical assemblies, run 3D CAD models, and collaborate with internal teams and external manufacturers. A strong background in plastics and injection moulding is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical engineering or product design.
• Confident using 3D CAD modelling and design software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo).
• Understanding of plastics and injection moulding processes.
• Experience developing products from concept through manufacture.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Consumer product design experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products from concept through to manufacture.
• Produce 3D models and technical drawings using 3D CAD.
• Design plastic components, housings and mechanical assemblies.
• Support prototyping, testing and product development activities.
• Consider materials, manufacturing processes and production costs.
• Work closely with internal teams and external manufacturers.
• Improve existing products through design modifications.
