Mobiltex in Newport, Wales is seeking a Product and Test Support Technician to create, maintain and control production documentation for hardware, and to provide hands-on support to engineers during testing and prototype bring-up.

You will translate engineering designs into clear, production-ready instructions, execute validation tests, and keep documentation current as products move from NPI to sustaining production.

Responsibilities

Support engineers in executing test plans, validation and prototype bring-up.
Assist with debugging and troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues.
Investigate Customer Reported Bugs (CRBs) and Corrective Actions (CARs).
Record, organize and report test data in a clear, traceable format.
Create and maintain production work instructions, BOMs and test procedures.
Ensure documentation accuracy on the production floor and during EC/NPI releases.
Train production staff on new or revised procedures.

Product and Test Support Technician | Newport, Wales | Full Time | £45,000-£55,000 per annum

Their solutions target real-time corrosion prevention, gas pressure management and water network optimisation, primarily serving midstream and downstream energy operators and water utilities. The Role

Mobiltex is looking for a Product and Test Support Technician to create, maintain and control the documentation that supports the manufacturing of its hardware products, while providing hands‑on support to hardware, firmware and mechanical engineers during testing, validation and prototype bring‑up. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams, you will translate engineering designs into clear, production‑ready instructions, execute test and validation activities under engineering direction, and keep documentation current as products move from New Product Introduction (NPI) through to sustaining production.

Key Responsibilities

Support engineers in executing test plans, validation and prototype bring‑up activities
Support testing, debugging and troubleshooting of hardware and firmware issues alongside engineers during development
Support investigations into Customer Reported Bugs (CRBs) and Corrective Action Requests (CARs)
Execute validation, functional, environmental and reliability tests under engineering direction and flag anomalies for engineering review
Record, organise and report test data and results in a clear, traceable format
Support the timely delivery of projects in alignment with agreed engineering plans and priorities
Contribute to team effectiveness, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement efforts
Support delivery of engineering and product development objectives aligned with Mobiltex strategic priorities
Work with manufacturing, quality and engineering teams to validate documentation accuracy on the production floor
Create and maintain production work instructions, Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly procedures and test/inspection procedures
Maintain document version control and revision history in line with company procedures
Prepare and process documentation for Engineering Change Orders (ECs) and NPI product releases
Assist with training production staff on new or revised procedures
Maintain production test fixtures and processes
Support troubleshooting and resolve manufacturing issues

Requirements

Essential

Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Comfortable using basic lab/test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes and bench power supplies
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Confluence for documentation
Ability to read schematics, PCB layouts and mechanical drawings
Familiarity with electronics assembly and PCB assembly (PCBA) processes
Experience with document control systems
Basic understanding of manufacturing quality processes
Ability to follow test plans and validation procedures written by engineering and accurately record results
Attention to detail and accuracy
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Good organisational and time management skills
Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams
