Job summary

Zero Surplus, a luxury interiors brand, seeks a Technical Administrator to support its UK R&D team. You will build and maintain product technical files, ensuring data accuracy across UK/EU/NA standards, and manage the Product Release Order process from development to production release.

You’ll work with PLM/ERP systems and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP), generating weekly NPD reports and monthly KPI & carbon data. This admin role is essential to keep data clean and releases on track.

Qualifications

• A couple of years in admin, ideally in a technical or engineering setting.
• Intermediate Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, and confident with exported data.
• Very close attention to detail.
• Confident and persuasive, comfortable chasing people.
• Someone who enjoys owning the data and running a tight ship.
• Proactive and positive, and genuinely happy doing admin.
• ERP or PLM experience (SAP, NetSuite, Navision, Oracle) is an advantage.

Technical Administrator

We're working with a leading design-led brand in the luxury interiors sector to find a Technical Administrator for their R&D team. A British business founded in the late 1990s, they now sell in over 90 countries with subsidiaries in the US and Asia. Behind every product that ships is a technical file that has to be complete, current and correct. That's what you'd own.

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you'll build and maintain product technical files in line with UK, European and North American regulations, supporting development teams in the UK and China. You'll work day-to-day in a Product Lifecycle Management system alongside Excel, covering specification records, engineering data, costings and quotations. You'll also own the Product Release Order process that takes a new product through to production release.

On top of that, you'll produce the weekly NPD report the Head of Product Development runs the meeting from, plus the monthly KPI report and carbon data.

Being Straight With You

This is an admin role, and it's meant to be. It isn't a route into engineering. But it's the role everything else leans on: if the data's wrong, products don't release and reports don't work.

You'll also spend a fair bit of time chasing engineers. They're busy, and admin isn't always their first port of call, so you need to be confident enough to keep asking and persuasive enough to get what you need.
