Job summary

Government of Jersey is seeking a commercially astute professional with experience spanning procurement and sales, ideally with exposure to builders’ merchants, construction, distribution or related sectors. The role requires strong negotiation, analytical and stakeholder-management skills to drive margins and stock efficiency.

You will engage with suppliers, manage terms, and influence senior stakeholders to improve commercial performance, with training provided to support success.

Qualifications

• Commercial, procurement, buying or sales experience.
• Strong knowledge of the construction or building materials sector.
• Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing commercial terms.
• Understanding purchasing, pricing, margin and stock.
• Track record of improving commercial performance.
• Strong analytical and financial awareness.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders.
• Strong influencing and communication skills.
• Training will be provided.
