Job summary

Anglian Recruitment seeks a Senior Commercial Lead (MEP) to lead the commercial management of complex mechanical and electrical packages on a major Jersey project. You will drive budgets, procurement, and contract administration while developing the commercial team.

Ideal candidate has senior leadership experience in Tier 1 MEP or main contracting, with a strong background in cost control, risk mitigation and stakeholder engagement across project delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience as Managing Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager or Commercial Lead
• Experience in Tier 1 MEP or main contracting environment
• Experience leading teams at a senior level
• Strong knowledge of procurement, cost management and contract administration
• Degree or technical qualification; professional accreditation advantageous

Commercial Lead - M&E

Anglian Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Lead (M&E) to join a major construction project based in Jersey.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced commercial professional with a strong MEP / building services background, ideally gained within a Tier 1 contractor environment.

The successful candidate will take the commercial lead across complex mechanical and electrical packages, with responsibility for the financial, contractual and operational performance of the project. You will also be expected to lead and develop the commercial team, working closely with operational, technical, engineering and project delivery functions.

The role is expected to be based in Jersey for approximately 3-4 years, with a view to long-term relocation to London thereafter, offering a strong career pathway beyond the initial project.

Key responsibilities

• Leading the commercial management of mechanical and electrical packages
• Managing project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow
• Procurement and commercial management of subcontractors and suppliers
• Contract administration under NEC, JCT and/or bespoke forms of contract
• Managing valuations, variations, change control and final accounts
• Identifying and mitigating commercial and contractual risk
• Supporting procurement strategy and package negotiations
• Managing supplier and subcontractor relationships
• Ensuring contractual obligations and commercial procedures are maintained
• Leading and mentoring QS and wider commercial team members
• Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and senior stakeholders
• Providing commercial input during pre-construction and tender stages where required

The ideal candidate will have

• Previous experience at Managing Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager or Commercial Lead level
• Strong experience within a Tier 1 MEP or main contracting environment
• A background leading teams and operating at a senior level, potentially from an Operations Manager, Operations Director or equivalent leadership position
• Strong technical understanding of complex MEP systems
• Experience of how multiple building services systems interface throughout installation, testing and commissioning
• Demonstrable experience managing significant mechanical and electrical packages
• A relevant degree or technical qualification
• RICS or CIOB qualification would be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of procurement, cost management and contract administration
• Experience working with NEC, JCT or similar construction contracts
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MEP commercial professional looking for a long-term senior position, initially based in Jersey before progressing into a London-based role.

Location: Jersey - approximately 3-4 years, with a view to London thereafter
