Job summary

H Squared Talent Ltd in the United Kingdom seeks a Purchasing Manager to own and rebuild the procurement function for a precision equipment manufacturer. You will lead a small team, shape processes, manage supplier relationships, and align purchasing with design and production to optimize parts, cost, and delivery.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will translate forecasts into stock decisions and drive cost-saving initiatives while building robust procurement processes across the business.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on buying experience for complex, made-to-order products.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and stock planning.
• Proven ability to coach and develop a small procurement team.
• Strong numerical skills and proven negotiating capability.
• Ability to build relationships across technical and commercial teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and steer a small purchasing team with clear direction and coaching.
• Translate demand forecasts into stock decisions to keep shelves full and cash efficient.
• Monitor supplier risk and prepare proactive mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with design to evaluate cheaper or faster part/material options without compromising performance.
• Translate supplier capabilities into formal change requests.
• Scout and onboard new suppliers to support growth and increase negotiating power.
