Procurement Category Manager

Full-time / Permanent

Hybrid Working

We are recruiting for a Procurement Category Manager (Energy, Gas, Water Services, Chemicals, Co-Packing & Contract Manufacturing) to manage an area of spend of high complexity; creating robust spend category strategies and active business partnering with key stakeholders. This role can be based out of our Market Drayton, Telford, Droitwich or Manchester site.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Create and implement category strategies for key spend areas aligned with the Business Units and Group Service functions
  2. Ensure procurement policy, processes and spend compliance rules are in place
  3. Support new product launches within the Business Units (involvement in strategic projects)
Stakeholder Management
  1. Create and present recommendations to the business units
  2. Present key insight/updates to the key stakeholders covering data analysis & market insight to ensure effective planning and decision making
Supplier Management
  1. Implement a supplier relationship strategy to achieve the agreed KPIs and develop sustainable added value potential
Subject Matter Expertise
  1. Significant experience in Utilities procurement or other heavily data-driven procurement categories. Experience in Food stuffs, FMCG or similar operational procurement. Understanding of requirements to support business and cost drivers, ability to challenge specifications and operational methods to drive value from procurement.
  2. A capable project manager, able to drive action from a project team and deliver sourcing events within challenging timescales.
Continuous Improvement
  1. Carry out continuous improvement and efficiency reviews within the function and business units with action plans detailing responsibilities and timelines.
Key Skills And Experience
  1. Minimum 5 years experience as a category manager
  2. Knowledge & experience in Energy, Gas, Water Services, Chemicals, Co-Packing & Contract Manufacturing is desirable
  3. Ability to translate strategies into actionable plans
  4. Strong communication skills at all levels
  5. Excellent data interpretation and analysis skills
  6. Moderation and presentation skills
  7. Project management competence
  8. Ability to lead project teams
  9. Advanced project management skills preferred
