Full Job Description

Procurement Category Manager (Indirect Procurement for CAPEX & Operations) required for my client, a leading FMCG business with market-leading brands.

As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for managing an area of spend of high complexity; creating robust spend category strategies and actively partnering with key stakeholders. This is a hybrid role.

Key Responsibilities of the Category Manager:

1. Significant experience in Utilities procurement or other similarly heavily data-driven procurement categories.
2. Experience in FMCG or similar operational procurement. Clear understanding of requirements to support the business, as well as what drives costs, with the ability to challenge specifications and operational methods in collaboration with stakeholders to drive value from procurement.
3. Create and implement category strategies for key spend areas aligned with Business Units and Group Service functions.
4. Ensure procurement policy, processes, and spend compliance rules are in place.
5. Support new product launches within the Business Units, involving strategic projects.
6. Create and present recommendations to the business units.
7. Present key insights and updates to stakeholders, covering data analysis and market insights to facilitate effective planning and decision-making.
8. Implement a supplier relationship strategy to achieve KPIs and develop sustainable added value potential.
9. Drive actions from project teams and deliver sourcing events within defined or challenging timescales.

Key Skills and Experience of the Category Manager:

1. Minimum 5 years of experience in Procurement.
2. Specialist knowledge and experience in energy, utilities, chemicals, waste management, and recycling categories is desirable.
3. Ability to translate strategies and decisions into actionable steps.
4. Strong communication skills at all levels within a business.
5. Excellent data interpretation and analysis skills.
6. Ability to participate in and lead project teams as required.
7. Advanced Project Management skills are desirable.
