Job Description

Procurement Category Manager (Indirect Procurement for CAPEX & Operations) required for my client, a leading FMCG business with market-leading brands.

As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for managing a high-complexity spend area; creating robust spend category strategies and actively partnering with key stakeholders. This is a hybrid role.

Key Responsibilities of the Category Manager:

1. Significant experience in Utilities procurement or other similarly heavily data-driven procurement categories.
2. Experience in FMCG or similar operational procurement. A clear understanding of requirements to support the business and what drives costs, with the ability to challenge specifications and operational methods to drive value from a procurement perspective.
3. Create and implement category strategies for key spend areas aligned with Business Units and Group Service functions.
4. Ensure procurement policies, processes, and spend compliance rules are in place.
5. Support new product launches within Business Units, involving strategic projects.
6. Create and present recommendations to business units.
7. Present key insights and updates to stakeholders, including data analysis and market insights, to facilitate effective planning and decision-making.
8. Implement a supplier relationship strategy to achieve KPIs and develop sustainable value.
9. Drive action from project teams and deliver sourcing events within defined and challenging timelines.

Key Skills and Experience of the Category Manager:

1. Minimum 5 years of experience in Procurement.
2. Knowledge and experience in energy, utilities, chemicals, waste management, and packaging/recycling are desirable.
3. Ability to translate strategies and decisions into actionable plans.
4. Strong communication skills at all organizational levels.
5. Excellent data interpretation and analysis skills.
6. Moderation and presentation skills.
7. Competent project management skills, with the ability to lead project teams.
8. Advanced project management skills are desirable.
