Job summary

Thames Water Utilities Limited in Witney (OX28) is seeking an Operations Process Technician to join our frontline operations team. You’ll help run sites safely, monitor equipment, and report faults to keep wastewater works operating and protecting the environment. The role involves working outdoors in all weather and a 7-day rota with weekend on-call duties.

Full training will be provided. A full UK driving licence and resilience to shift patterns are required.

You will be part of the frontline operations team that covers the picturesque Cotswolds with its main base at Witney. The role is an essential front-line role, which the business simply cannot operate without you. Every day is different, you will be working in all weather conditions carrying out a range of tasks, to ensure the essential functions of our wastewater treatment works operate to maintain the supply to our customers and protect the environment.

Base Location: Witney - OX28 5JH

Working Pattern or hours: Monday-Friday 7:30-15:36, 38 hours per week including working on a call-out rota where you will receive additional payment.

What you'll be doing as a Process Technician

• Ensuring our sites are running safely, efficiently and within permitted site specifications to protect the environment.
• You will be responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining equipment and reporting any defective items to ensure a swift repair or attempting a first-time fix where possible.
• You will be expected to take ownership of your own and colleagues' health and safety by escalating any concerns to your manager or resolving them yourself where possible and appropriate.
• Collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
• Once on the full working pattern you will be working 1 weekend every 6 weeks

You do not need a background in the Water industry. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas, but you must be:

• Comfortable working outdoors, potentially in all weather conditions.
• Prepared to work within the company's rota of a 7-day working week and participate on a standby rota.
• Part of a team that delivers excellent performance by understanding how you affect the overall mission of Thames Water.
• Have a good sense of humour, because of what you will be working with and not to be too squeamish.
• Adaptable, flexible, patient, reliable and self-motivated.
• Good with time management.
• Confident to work effectively and efficiently on your own.
• Keen to learn and operate complex processes with high-quality controls.
• Able to complete basic tasks on a computer e.g., be able to input site performance data and view their day's work via a hand-held device.

What you should bring to the role

• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience in delivering against challenging upper-quartile business targets and performance commitments.

• Competitive salary starting from £28,335 per annum depending on skills and experience.
